FAQs

What is Kinetic Edge Direct?

Kinetic Edge Direct is a monthly membership program that gives you convenient, affordable access to comfort, recovery, and performance services, such as stretching, cupping, dry needling, Medical Fitness, Shockwave therapy, and personalized re-assessment and treatment appointments called Recharge Sessions. It’s designed for people who want to move better, feel better, and stay active with fewer setbacks.

Do I need to be a member to receive Kinetic Edge Direct services?

No. Anyone can schedule Kinetic Edge Direct services at our standard cash-pay rates.

Members simply receive:

  • A 20% discount on all services
  • Regular Recharge Sessions (for Perform and Excel members)
  • A direct line of communication with their movement specialist
  • Priority scheduling and personalized guidance

Membership enhances your access—but it isn’t required.

Who is Kinetic Edge Direct designed for?

This program is ideal for:

  • Young athletes who want to stay healthy through demanding seasons
  • Weekend warriors and active adults who want support recovering from workouts and avoiding injury
  • Adults who want to stay strong and mobile as they age
  • Anyone who wants simple, predictable access to comfort and performance services without insurance limitations

If you value staying active and want consistent support for your body, KE Direct was created for you.

What types of advice can a movement specialist give?

Movement specialists can help you in the following ways:

  • Recover from soreness or tightness after workouts, games, or active weekends
  • Improve mobility, flexibility, and strength to prevent injuries
  • Identify small issues early before they become setbacks
  • Give personalized movement strategies so you can keep playing, training, or staying active confidently
  • Optimize performance with practical tips and hands-on guidance for athletes, weekend warriors, and active adults alike

Basically, if it affects how you move, feel, or perform, whether chasing goals, adventures, or loved ones, we can help you figure it out, fix it, and keep you going without waiting for a referral or medical approval.

When can KE Direct members reach out to their movement specialist?

Members can message their movement specialist any time through our communication portal, just like texting a coach or trainer. Messages can include questions, updates, or videos of your movement.

How quickly can members expect a response?

Movement specialists almost always respond within one business day, and often much sooner.
Weekends and holidays may vary, but members will always receive timely support.

I’m already seeing a Kinetic Edge physical therapist. Can I still message them?

Yes. If your current PT or OT is your assigned movement specialist, you can message them directly through KE Direct.
If you’re working with a different provider, we will connect you with the specialist who best fits your goals.

What is a Recharge Session?

A Recharge Session is a personalized, more thorough reassessment and treatment session focused on helping you move better, feel better, and prevent problems before they begin.

Your specialist will:

  • Assess how your body is moving
  • Address tightness, weakness, or imbalances
  • Deliver services to help improve your comfort and performance
  • Help you optimize mobility, stability, and comfort
  • Guide your plan for future sessions

This is NOT a PT or OT session unless specifically delivered as such for non-Medicare clients.

How many Recharge Sessions do I get each month?

Perform Members: 1 Recharge Session per month
Excel Members: 4 Recharge Sessions per month
Recovery Members do not receive included Recharge Sessions in their basic package but may purchase them at a discounted rate.

What if I need more Recharge Sessions?

Members can purchase additional Recharge Sessions at the 20% discounted rate.

Do Recharge Sessions carry over if I don’t use them?

Yes, up to a maximum of 10, but you must be an active member at the time you use these stored sessions. They are designed to be used regularly to help you stay ahead of issues.

Can one Recharge Session per month be enough?

Yes. Many people benefit greatly from one monthly Recharge session, especially if they use other KE Direct services such as stretching, dry needling, or recovery tools.
For people with more demanding activity levels, the Excel tier offers weekly support.

Are there membership contracts?

No. KE Direct is month-to-month.

Can I change my membership each month?

Yes. You can upgrade or downgrade at any point, and the new membership level will go into effect at the start of the next billing cycle.

Can I cancel my membership?

Yes. Memberships may be cancelled with appropriate advance notice according to our cancellation policy, and you’ll continue to receive benefits until the end of your current billing cycle.

Where is Kinetic Edge Direct available?

KE Direct memberships are currently available in Pella and Des Moines as part of our pilot program.
All other Kinetic Edge clinics offer the same services at standard cash-pay rates without membership discounts.
Memberships will expand to other clinics in future phases.

Is it better to use my insurance or purchase a membership for physical therapy?

It depends on your insurance plan.

We recommend checking your:

  • Deductible
  • Co-pays
  • Coinsurance
  • Coverage limits

You can then compare this to KE Direct pricing to decide which is best for you.

Can I use my HSA for Kinetic Edge Direct?

To avoid any surprises, please verify with your insurance provider or plan that the services you need are covered before completing your registration.

Can KE Direct be used for physical therapy?

Yes, but only for non-Medicare clients.
Federal law prohibits Medicare beneficiaries from paying cash for PT or OT services that Medicare covers.
Medicare beneficiaries can receive KE Direct comfort and performance services (stretching, cupping, Normatec, etc.), but cannot receive PT or OT through KE Direct.

How is a Recharge Session different from a PT or OT session?

A Recharge Session is a wellness-based tune-up, not a medical treatment.

It focuses on:

  • Mobility
  • Comfort
  • Recovery
  • Performance
  • Strength and movement optimization

PT and OT sessions are medical visits designed to treat a diagnosed condition and follow a plan of care.

What services are included with Kinetic Edge Direct?

  • Simple Sessions
  • Normatec Vasopneumatic Compression
  • MarcPro and other electrical stimulation treatments
  • Standard Sessions

  • Cupping
  • Instrument Assisted Soft Tissue Mobilization

What is Shockwave therapy?

Shockwave therapy uses high-energy acoustic waves to stimulate healing, reduce pain, and improve tissue function. It is one of the most effective non-invasive treatments for chronic tendon and soft tissue issues.

How does Shockwave work?

The acoustic waves:

  • Increase blood flow
  • Break down dysfunctional tissue
  • Stimulate cellular repair
  • Reduce chronic inflammation
  • Accelerate recovery

Most treatments take approximately 10 minutes and require no downtime.

What are the benefits of Shockwave?

Shockwave can:

  • Reduce long-standing pain
  • Accelerate recovery in chronic injuries
  • Improve mobility
  • Help people avoid injections or surgery
  • Speed return to activity

Who is Shockwave good for?

Shockwave is especially effective for:

  • Plantar fasciitis
  • Achilles tendinopathy
  • Patellar tendinopathy
  • IT band syndrome
  • Tennis/golfer’s elbow
  • Rotator cuff tendinopathy
  • Chronic soft tissue pain that hasn’t responded to other treatments

It’s ideal for both active individuals and adults struggling with persistent tendon, fascial, or soft tissue discomfort.
